Co obxectivo de afondar na investigación da cultura popular en lingua inglesa a través de manifestacións artísticas concretas e que o alumnado de grao, mestrado e doutoramento compartise o seu traballo de investigación sobre esta temática, este mércores celébrase no salón de graos da Facultade de Filoloxía e Tradución a primeira edición do seminario Cultural Studies Reloaded: Analysing Popular Manifestations in English. Organizado polas docentes e investigadoras do Departamento de Filoloxía Inglesa, Francesa e Alemá Adriana Taboada e Inmaculada Pérez, o seminario inclúe unha ducia de charlas, dúas delas conferencias plenarias e tres paneis, integrados por alumnado da UVigo e tamén da USC e da Universidad de Extremadura.

“A cultura popular forma parte das nosas vidas.Todos lemos literatura, vemos películas e series ou xogamos a videoxogos, e todos eles forman parte da nosa cultura, modificándoa e sendo modificada por ela”, explican Inmaculada Pérez e Adriana Taboada. Non obstante, e aínda que se ten progresado moito e os estudos culturais son unha disciplina consolidada no mundo anglosaxón, ambas as dúas docentes aseguran que seguen a existir prexuízos e a distinción entre alta e baixa cultura fai que moitas manifestacións artísticas populares queden sen estudar. “Con este seminario demostramos que a chamada cultura popular si ten cabida na academia, e que para entender verdadeiramente o mundo no que vivimos debemos prestar atención a ambas e as relacións entre elas”, sinalan Adriana Taboada e Inmaculada Pérez.

Equality Label

The Equality Label has been created to make the effort made by many in our University, who fight everyday to research, teach, transfer, manager and produce feministic and from a gender point of view scientific knowledge visible, and publicly and institutionally acknowledged. This initiative aims to acknowledge the work made by centres, schools and faculties in the field of a real and effective equality between men and women promotion, and, in this way, achieve a more human, equality and fair university.

The Faculty of Philology and Translation achieved the Equality Label on September 24, 2021.

Centre certified by FIDES-AUDIT

The Faculty of Philology and Translation designed a Quality Guarantee System in collaboration with the Quality Area of the University of Vigo, following the guidelines of the programme FIDES-AUDIT.

The ACSUG (Agency for Quality Assurance in the Galician University System) issued a positive evaluation of the design of the centre Quality Guarantee System on the 26th of April, 2010. Later, on the 7th of October, 2014, the ACSUG issued as positive the certification report of the implementation of the Quality Guarantee System in the centre.This certification has been renewed on 10/11/2022.
