The Teaching Evaluation Support Programme (DOCENTIA), was created to satisfy the universities requests and the educative system need to have a model and procedures to assure the quality of the teaching staff and to promote their development and acknowledgment.

The aim of this Programme is to support the universities in the design and application of teaching evaluation procedures in order to assure the teaching quality of their teaching staff and to promote their development and acknowledgment through an external evaluation by an agency.

The DOCENTIA Programme uses as a reference the recommendations for a Quality Assurance in the Higher Education Institutions given by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) in their document Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area. Among these criteria and guidelines, the number 1.5 stands out, being it about the Quality Assurance of the Teaching Staff, establishing that all the institutions must take measures to assure that their teaching staff is qualified and competent for the teaching activity.
