Doutora en Filoloxía hispánica pola Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (1992) e profesora Titular de Teoría da literatura e Literatura comparada da Universidade de Vigo. Labor investigador orientado, fundamentalmente, en tres áreas: a) tematología (o mito de Don Juan na cultura occidental); b) relacións interartísticas; e c) crítica literaria (a obra de Gonzalo Torrente Ballester). Fundadora e Directora da revista La Tabla Redonda. Anuario de Estudios Torrentinos (ISSN: 1697-0373), iniciada en 2003.
