I currently hold a Senior Research Fellowship in the Department of Filoloxía Inglesa at the University of Vigo, a position entitled "Investigadora Distinguida" ("Distinguished Research Fellow"). This follows a five-year Senior Research Fellowship "Ramón y Cajal" (Ministerio of Economía y Competitividad de España) in the said department (2012-2017). Parallel to this, in February 2017 I was appointed Honorary Research Fellow by the University of anchester (UK), Linguistics and English Language Division. Before moving to Vigo, from 2007 to 2012 I held a full-time position as Lecturer in English Language in the Department of Linguistics and English Language at Manchester, with specialisation in the history of English. Manchester is the University where I completed my PhD thesis (2007), supervised by Prof. David Denison (Preposition Stranding and Prescriptivism in English from 1500 to 1900: A Corpus-based Approach) and my MA studies in English Studies (An Historical Approach to Preposition Stranding in Early Modern English, 2004). My predoctoral studies were financially supported by various grants from the Xunta de Galicia, Caixa Galicia and the Arts and Humanities Research Council. In October 2015 I passed the 'Acreditación para Profesora Titular de Universidad', sort of 'habilitation' teaching and research assessment exercise for promotion to Senior Lecturer.
