Short CV

Doctor in English Philology (2000) from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Her main research area is the history of English language (with a focus on early and late Modern English morphosyntax). She has published numerous articles in international journals and the monograph Disjunct Adverbs in Early Modern English: A Corpus-based Study (2003) under a variationist and sociohistorical perspective. From 2010 to 2014 she was the head of the University language centre and took active part in the launching of EMI programmes and the design and implementation of HELA (in-house test for teachers involved in English-medium instruction). She was Vice-Rector for students at the University of Vigo (Spain) from April 2014 to June 2018 and head of the Language Policy group within CRUE (Spanish Conference of Rectors). Her second and more recent area of expetise concerns language policy and ICLHE (Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education). She delivered several lectures on the topic (often by invitation as plenary speaker) and coordinated and coauthored CRUE’s Language Policy for the Internationalisation of Spanish Universities: A Framework Document.
